Today we have to comment on a classic title, "Introduction to Strategic Studies: Military Technology and International Relations", written by the professor of International Relations at the London School of Economics Barry Buzan in the mid-80s and published for the first time in English. in 1987 by the current Palgrave Macmillan. The Italian Navy is at a key moment. In recent days the accident of the Brazilian submarine S-40 Riachuelo has been in the news. As far as we know, it hit bottom after a water ingress while it was inside the Itaguaí base. After many ideas and comings and goings, the VCR 8×8 program seems to be moving forward with the assignment of the contract to the TESS Defense consortium, of which Escribano Mechanical & Engineering (EM&E) is a part. The Madrid company will be in charge of the design and manufacturing of the weapons systems, starting with the Guardian 30 tower, to which we dedicate this article. A novel design, the result of the ability of EM&E's young engineers to take advantage of the design and simulation tools and the advanced machinery that they have at their disposal at their headquarters in Alcalá de Henares and that allows them to renounce techniques such as casting or welding, betting everything on high precision machining.
