The new geopolitical environment, unprecedented since the Second World War, derived from the Russian invasion of Ukraine, forces a medium power like Spain to rethink aspects such as investment in defense, but also whether the size of the Armed Forces (FAS) itself is what is necessary to confront new threats. There are many who have spoken, in general and even specialized media, about the need to increase the size of our armies. In this article, however, we will leave aside the abstract debates, too often revolving around vague arguments, to talk about concrete figures not only as a whole, but for each of the branches of the FAS.
