The book that we bring up in this issue is, although at first glance it may seem otherwise, fundamental when it comes to understanding much of what has been written and done in the last three decades on the military level, both in the most theoretically, as well as practically. Alvin Toffler, its author - always with the help of his wife, Heidi - was a very particular character, a futurist who in just a handful of works, among which it is worth mentioning “The Shock of the Future”, “The Change of Power”, “The Wealth Revolution”, “The Wars of the Future” and, of course, “The Third Wave”, managed to quite successfully advance many of the trends that define our current society. Revered by many - and reviled by many others - his vision of history, divided into waves and outlined in broad strokes, has inspired authors of all classes and conditions and continues to exert a notable influence in academic environments, especially Anglo-Saxon ones.
