For centuries, Southeast Asia has been one of the favorite regions for the practice of piracy. The region is home to the largest archipelago on our planet: Indonesia with its more than 17.000 islands. The Strait of Malacca separates one of those islands, Sumatra, from the Malaysian peninsula. 50.000 merchant ships pass through it every year and a third of the crude oil that sails the seas. A real loot for criminals.
