When we think about jihadism and groups like the Islamic State or Al Qaeda, we tend to conceive them as a kind of solar system, full of planets that only have in common a fanatical belief in Islam, which leads them to use a disorderly series of tactics. in order to gain power and become Islamic states that are more concerned in many cases with fighting with the rival group than with pursuing a clear objective. However, jihadist strategic thinking exists, and although it is not monolithic nor does it have as solid an intellectual base as in the West, it exerts a great influence on the myriad of terrorist groups.
