In recent months, the shortage of microchips has become a recurring topic of conversation in the boards of directors of many companies, in the councils of ministers and in different media, both specialized and general. The consequences of this shortage are alarming. They are especially so for the Member States of the European Union, with industries such as the automobile industry being forced to slow down their production. The supply problems, despite being a specific event, have served to bring to light a dependence on Taiwan and South Korea that reminds us of the dangers of relocation and the need to recover some technological and industrial sovereignty if Europe intends to be an important player in the coming decades.
