The case of Taiwan

That the United States has been the hegemonic power during the last decades is an incontestable fact. However, The emergence of the People's Republic of China and its growing relevance have raised questions about the continuity of leadership and American hegemony. The era of strategic competition between great powers has arrived and the relationship between both States will determine the course of our century. Particularly as a result of recent events, one of the scenarios where such competition could develop has been the Republic of China or, also known, Taiwan, one of the most painful vestiges of Chinese humiliation and a place where the actions of the great powers will have impact on the tone of the competition that will take place over the next few years.
