Maritime security problems in American waters have traditionally been linked to incidents of piracy in certain ports and to different types of illegal trafficking: narcotics, weapons and irregular migrants. The social crisis in Venezuela has created a new focus of insecurity. The incidents are increasingly varied and numerous in the waters that bathe the American continent.
