The Russian operations prior to the illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014 where the appearance of the so-called “little green men”, or troops without nationality markings, who deployed in strategic places on the peninsula, achieving the capitulation of the Ukrainian military detachments, with hardly any to use violence, surprised Western authorities and experts who saw a new manifestation of the art of war – the so-called hybrid war – in which the strategic, operational and tactical doctrines and procedures broke with the traditional configuration of the war conflict.
