ISIS's new asymmetric strategy

Contrary to what might appear from the latest press reports about the defeat of the Islamic State (ISIS) and its virtual disappearance in Syria and Iraq, reality shows a much more complex situation that is likely to worsen very quickly. ISIS 1) has pivoted to an asymmetric strategy of guerrillas and rural areas, 2) in which more importance is given to operating in Iraq, 3) not directly confronting forces supported by US military power. 4) ISIS continues to retain a non-negligible strength and could quickly re-emerge.
