According to the director of the very influential think tanks Russian CAST (Strategic and Technological Analysis Center), Ruslan Pukhov (in a recent interview with MK), the Russian operation in Syria has had a significant impact both on Russia's international prestige and influence and on the organization and structure of its armed forces. Whether or not one agrees with some of Pukhov's comments and analysis, his opinion is certainly relevant in interpreting how Russian military and strategic experts view and evaluate the Russian military campaign in Syria.
