Private Military Corporations in the post-capitalist era

Mercenaries have been present in all those cultures and moments in which certain social catalysts converge that favor their appearance; continuous conflicts, excess of human capital with military training in a certain environment and lack in another, proliferation and normalization of war as an instrument of political dialectics, absence of national armies or massive demobilizations due to the end of a conflict. Hand in hand with capitalism and globalization, this phenomenon has given rise since the second half of the 20th century to what we know as Private Military Corporations or Private Military Companies (PMCs), a phenomenon that has experienced an unprecedented boom in the last twenty years.
