In the last two decades, various private military companies have gained enormous relevance, authentic armies of what were once called mercenaries, several of them with capabilities that could overshadow some states. Companies such as the defunct Blackwater, now called Academi, or more recently the Russian Wagner Group have made numerous headlines, although they are by no means the only ones. For some years now, Turkey and Erdogan have had SADAT, through which they seek to expand the country's influence abroad, taking advantage of the opportunities offered by gray areas.
