Arms trafficking: an introduction

Mafias, terrorists, insurgents and individuals operating in the black market and the deep web.

Arms trafficking has always been a controversial, practically taboo topic. Furthermore, a topic that has been fantasized about too much, generally due to lack of knowledge. Despite the image associated with Hollywood movies, the reality is more prosaic. Normally, when talking about arms trafficking, reference is made to the illegal sale and purchase of handguns by individuals or criminal organizations. More interesting, however, is the trafficking of war weapons, especially on a large scale. Carried out by insurgent and paramilitary groups, terrorists and, increasingly, mafias of all kinds, it moves real fortunes. On too many occasions, in connivance with governments interested in waging subsidiary wars such as Libya's proxy war o the syrian war.
