The Reconquista is a myth. A beautiful myth, a necessary myth, a myth that has served to unify a country and a series of peoples around a historical destiny, yes, but a myth and as such, an invention. We can argue about the more or less real part of the myth, about the fabled part, about its convenience and about a million other things, but, whether we like it or not, if we really want to understand that historical period, the first thing we have to do is is to demystify it.
