A vital issue related to the S-80 Program and that has never been explained in the detail with which it should have been explained to the public, has to do with the impact of the program, a parameter that can be measured in very different ways. The most obvious is to assess the industrial returns, that is, the volume of money and the technological boost that the project leaves in Spain. With a total cost that is dangerously close to the barrier of 1.000 million euros per unit, we are forced to ask ourselves questions such as the following: What part of those almost 4.000 million reverts to Spanish companies? Does the program really act as a multiplier by generating industrial activity, promoting the development of new patents and creating jobs? Is the financial effort worth it from the point of view of the Spanish defense industry? On the other hand, the program has not only had an industrial impact, but has also affected the Ministry of Defense in various ways and has had a cost and a benefit in terms of image for both the construction company and the country itself.
