Like many of the major armies on the European continent, the Army Italian is currently in a modernization process that, although some describe it as evolutionary, seems to point more towards a change of cycle. Not in vain, in addition to modernizing their Legacy systems (case of the Ram, Arrow o Centaur), is incorporating new armored vehicles and transport helicopters, is studying acquiring a new battle tank and has embarked on the NEES program, which we discuss here. Of all the programs in progress, without a doubt this one, that of the AW249 NEES (New Exploration and Escort Helicopter or New Exploration and Escort Helicopter), is the most important.
