Iran's missile force and the strategy that inspires it has evolved over the decades. At first it was born as a low-precision ballistic missile force, designed to carry out simple retaliation and deterrence attacks against intimidation and terror attacks. In recent years it has become a highly sophisticated regional-range, high-precision missile force, enhanced with cruise missiles and suicide drones. Force designed for a very sophisticated strategy of very calibrated and limited attacks that avoid attribution and manage to actively deter and coerce (using force) but without crossing the threshold of an open war (Gray Zone strategy).
