The Second Chechen War begins in the first days of October 1999, when Russian troops - especially its Air Force or VVS - begin a massive bombing campaign aimed at dismantling the combative power of the Chechen warlords, before move on to a ground offensive that would return control over the rebellious Caucasian region to Moscow. It was a brief war – if we look at the development of purely military operations, since the anti-terrorist operations officially ended in April 2009. Also a bloody war, which knew no mercy and in which every time they had the opportunity, both parties brought to light the worst of human beings. Still, there were moments for camaraderie, for fighting side by side in the face of a fate as grim as it was certain, and even for heroism. Among all these moments, the most notable is perhaps that of the Battle of Ulus-Kert, also known as the Battle for Summit 776.
