The Indian Armed Forces have always stood out for their mix of resources from different sources, combining materials of both Western and Soviet origin. Increasingly, however, they try to source products that are licensed or completely indigenous developments, manufactured in the country itself. The HAL Prachand combat helicopter is a good example of the latter: a design also designed to operate in high altitude conditions, since whether against the People's Republic of China or against Pakistan, the Indian Armed Forces must be capable of fight in the mountainous areas in the north of the country.
