Electronic countermeasures constitute the active part, and therefore the best known part, of elusive electronic warfare. Its uses are very varied, but usually oriented to the second half of the definition of electronic warfare: deny the use of the spectrum to the enemy. Usually useful only after support measures have done their part, ECMs can trick or disrupt the enemy's sensors, both the ones they use to detect us and the ones they need to attack us. Thus, countermeasures are a fundamental part of missile defense. For their part, the protection measures seek to defend themselves against these attacks both with material means and through employment doctrines.
