Basic tool for peer-to-peer warfare?

In the current framework of competition between great powers, a direct confrontation between the US and China over Taiwan is not unreasonable. Nor a generalized fight throughout the Indo-Pacific region, a scenario that in one way or another would also affect European nations. The implementation of A2/AD means, together with the expansion of the Chinese (and Russian) fleet, requires, in order to prevail, to maintain a high operational tempo and high availability on the part of its own ships. To do this, it seems essential to look back, specifically to the Second World War, learning from the experience gained with floating bases and the advantages offered by having a naval train up to the task.
