In recent days the accident of the Brazilian submarine S-40 Riachuelo has been in the news. As far as we know, it hit bottom after a water ingress while it was inside the Itaguaí base. So far, the Marinha do Brasil has not clarified an incident that, however, does not have many possible causes. Nor has any damage analysis been published, despite which - and always with caution - we can assure that they will be substantial and will require a significant review and investment. After many ideas and comings and goings, the VCR 8×8 program seems to be moving forward with the assignment of the contract to the TESS Defense consortium, of which Escribano Mechanical & Engineering (EM&E) is a part. The Madrid company will be in charge of the design and manufacturing of the weapons systems, starting with the Guardian 30 tower, to which we dedicate this article. A novel design, the result of the ability of EM&E's young engineers to take advantage of the design and simulation tools and the advanced machinery that they have at their disposal at their headquarters in Alcalá de Henares and that allows them to renounce techniques such as casting or welding, betting everything on high precision machining. It is increasingly common to see articles on specialized sites and in the press about electromagnetic cannons (Electro Magnetic Rail Gun or EMRG). Articles that claim that anti-missile defense can be revolutionized by this type of cannon, currently under development for naval forces such as the US Navy or the Chinese PLAN, but which can also be installed on land. If there is a country that was affected by the 2008 crisis, it was Greece. The LISS program is the latest great innovation from the Spanish company Escribano Mechanical & Engineering. It is an autonomous and distributed drone swarm system designed to tackle very diverse missions, from ISR/ISTAR to ground attack, border control, spills or forest fires, damage assessment or location of victims of shipwrecks or natural disasters, among others. It is a pioneering project, which has the support of the DGAM and, if it really fulfills what was announced, it will be a commercial success and will mark a before and after for the Spanish defense industry. Thanks to the modernization of the CH-47D Chinook in service with the FAMET to the CH-47 "Foxtrot" Block 1 standard, the Army will have heavy helicopters for at least two more decades. The updated devices will be delivered between 2021 and 2024 and will represent a notable technological leap compared to the current "Delta".
