The discovery is, potentially, one more step in the probable radical change of the structure of China's nuclear force, something that the Asian country has been carrying out for some years. However, the news does not take analysts and observers of Chinese nuclear strategy completely by surprise. For some years now, there has been a growing number of indications and rumors that China is updating and modifying its conservative nuclear strategy, which consisted of maintaining a very small number of warheads and low alert levels, moving towards a much larger arsenal. and with alert levels comparable to those of Russia and the USA.
