Application to autonomous terrestrial systems: Uran-9 vs Carmel

The first tests of the Uran-9 have yielded regrettable results and revealed Russian shortcomings in situational awareness, among other critical aspects of autonomous weapons design. Still, it is an important first step.

Situational Awareness (Situational Awareness) is a key aspect of both fully autonomous and human-directed combat vehicles, whether manned or semi-autonomous. In reality, it is a key aspect on any battlefield as History shows us. Without going any further, in World War II the possibilities that radio offered to German tank commanders were, in large part, behind their initial successes. Thus, the ability to share data, to deploy each unit in the most appropriate place, benefiting from the information it could provide to the whole, and also the ability to create a more perfect and complete image of the battlefield, proved decisive, something that was not has changed.
