A review of the main navies of the region

Chilean submarine of the Scorpéne class, built in its day by the association formed between the Spanish Navantia and the French DCNS - currently Naval Group -. Having two modern submarines with the capabilities of the Scorpéne, along with two older units of the Type 209/1400-L, places the Chilean Navy one point above any of its neighbors, a situation exacerbated by the availability of four Lockheed P-3 Orion maritime patrol.

Throughout the following article we will see the general situation of the different Fleets of the main Ibero-American countries. If in the West, in general, there has been a significant drop in resources invested in naval weapons, in Latin America the situation is no better. Obviously there are important differences depending on each nation, with only two or three countries being saved from this situation.
