Mosquito fleets are those made up of a huge number of small units, but with a great punch, so that they compensate for their limited movement with significant range and lethality. For the past two and a half decades, the Russian Navy has tried to recover from the effects of the Soviet collapse. While its economy and its naval industry were going through dramatic moments, the only possible solution to try to keep a combat fleet operational was through the construction, as already happened between the 40s and 60s, of small, heavily armed units, giving rise to to what is known as Mosquito Fleets.
